EQUIPMENT

As we are carrying everything ourselves from 3700- 7100, and some of it even up and down a couple of times, its essential that our gear is as light as possible but can be trusted in the extreme weather conditions.

We are using Telemark skis for both ascent and descent. The sies are lightweighted and wide, and combined with robust telemark bindings this gives flexibility and lightness for allday upward climbing, and stability and robustness for downhill trashing. Skiing make the descent a lot more fun and fast and will also make us economize energy upwards. At the steepest part which are approx 45-50 degrees, it is required with crampons, axes and rope.

7 (2-3 pers) small tents will be required and in addition we will rent a base camp tent. The small tents will be moved to camp 2 and 3 as we move on, and should be very light but still put up with possible storms.

The night at camp 2 and 3 could be cold, not unusual with temperatures below -30, thus down clothing and sleeping bags are neccesary for not freeze our balls off.

Gas burners for cooking, gas cans must be bought in Kyrghyz due to airflight regulations. Lots of drytech food will be brought from Norway for the high camps. The food for the basecamp we will be bought in Bishkek.
